Discussion
This experiment proves that the memory can be mislead somehow with high confidence. However, some of the participants do not write down the critical words even they almost remembered most of them. In fact, the study is relatively unreliable because of the low sample amount. More samples should be taken in order to reach higher accuracy.
One interesting fact is the participant 6, a student major in clinical research. He was currently in the internship and dealing with patients. He wrote down the word “needle” and only this word in the list. This result may have implication that some of the experience may affect the participants’ perception and susceptibility of memory.
Most of the participants do not write down the word “needle”. This result may be caused by their lack of experience on the scene this list mentioned. In the common sense, “needle” may be a negative word and people may intend to avoid. However, the avoidance also increases their memory’s susceptibility. The needle may have more stronger impact in their memory which may be easier to be recalled.
